Artists Statement:
Although I come from a family of artists, my relationship with art means more to me than just carrying on a family tradition. Rather, I want to pursue a career in fine art not only because it is an excellent medium for creative self-expression, but also because my experience as an artist has allowed me to achieve personal and intellectual fulfillment.
For me, art has been a great source of personal pride and accomplishment. As someone who is constantly challenging herself to seek self-improvement, I’ve entered in countless art contests and competitions in order to expose myself and my artwork to constructive criticism, and I’ve never walked away without having gained something valuable from each experience. My art teachers played a significant role in my development as an artist; they have exposed me to a variety of visual art forms ranging from painting to graphic design. This comprehensive education has strengthened my creativity and critical thinking skills while allowing me to become a more flexible artist. I love that art has made me a more confident and broad-minded individual.
My passion for fine art draws me to pursue a college where I intend to take full advantage of the resources and academic experience the art program has to offer. I am attracted to intensive and multidisciplinary curriculums that encourage students to build a strong foundation in the arts while developing a professional attitude about their work. I would like to not only continue my development as an artist, but also enhance it by empowering myself with the experience and skills necessary to thrive in a complex and innovative society.
